In the quiet woodlands of Kalamazoo, MI, the Sambodh Center for Human Excellence (SCHE) is quietly emerging as a major facility in the United States for the teaching of Vedanta, Meditation, Yoga and Ayurveda, fostered by the Dharmic vision: the unity of all, and the unity of all spiritual paths. 

The  Bodhananda Vedic Institute (BVI) is located in a serene 32-acre woodland parcel belonging to The Sambodh Society, Inc., which also houses its national headquarters, the Sambodh Center for Human Excellence (SCHE) ashram. Built in 2007, SCHE is a modern, air-conditioned and disability-accessible building. Institute classroom occupies a space of approximately 696 sq. ft. on the lower walkout level of The Sambodh Society, Inc. facility. 


SCHE serves as the headquarters of The Sambodh Society, Inc. and is maintained by devotees, donors and friends. 


The Bodhananda Vedic Institute, School of Ayurveda offers a syllabus of courses in the study of Ayurveda, a spiritual science that encompasses and supports all dimensions of human life, in particular a healthy body, mind, and spirit.


Students will have access to other areas of the 5,999 sq. ft. building. These include upper level entrance, library and study; a Sanctuary for meditation, refreshment room (no food service), the administrative office, and the public lavatories located on both floors. 



Throughout the academic year weekend courses are held on Saturdays and Sundays, either via webinar, or on campus, with a monthly conference session held prior to the the next weekend course. Those who successfully complete the requirements for the full Program of Study will be awarded a "Level 1 Ayurvedic Health Consultant" Certificate.

All applicants must hold and show proof of a high school diploma or a GED certificate. Prospective students must submit a written application along with their transcripts from the most recent educational institution they attended. All applicants must demonstrate fluency in verbal and written English. Applicants will be interviewed as a part of the selection process. International students are advised that insufficient English skills may prohibit successful completion of the Program.

The Sambodh Society, Inc. is a Michigan Ecclesiastical Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Corporation and the owner and operator of the Bodhananda Vedic Institute and all of its Programs. Founded by Swami Bodhananda Saraswati, both The Sambodh Society, Inc. together with the Bodhananda Vedic Institute espouse and promote these aims to:

Promote understanding of India's ancient spiritual heritage, of which Ayurveda is an integral part, particularly through study and teaching of Vedic texts and India’s ancient literature.

Offer the perennial Vedic wisdom and practical knowledge that enables its practitioners to establish an integrated life-style that nurtures and balances the body-mind and spirit.Direct this wisdom towards active and constructive service to society.
